Bandwitdh Allowances Increased by 33%

April 2nd, 2009

Due to decreased IP transit costs, we are passing on the savings to you in the form of an increased bandwidth allowance and decreased extra bandwidth costs. The new allowances, per month, have been increased by a third for all 'E' customers, i.e. those on Solo E to Enterprise E packages. In addition, the cost of bandwidth used outside your allowace has been decreased from 20p/GB down to 4p/GB.

No news is good news

January 23rd, 2009

Things have been fairly quiet on the GigaTux front for the last few months, which is a good thing! Our second server has now been up for 165 days non-stop, proving that you will have a very reliable platform if you choose us for your VPS solution.

We will, in the near future, be announcing the availability of updated control panel software, with enhanced automated operating system installation options. Watch this space!

Second server

June 12th, 2008

Our second server

GigaTux is proud to announce that our second server is now up and running. It is in the final stages of being configured to accept new customers, and has the following specification:

  • Core 2 Quad Q6600
  • 2 x 1TB hard disks (RAID 1)
  • 8 GB RAM
  • 1U form factor

Because this has a vastly different configuration to our first server, the available VPS configurations have changed, with prices being changed accordingly. We believe this continues to offer extremely good value for money, along with the combined stability our first server has given us.

Web site moving (and our anniversary!)

April 2nd, 2008

Things have been fairly quiet at GigaTux recently. Not because nothing's going on, but because our servers have again had the chance to prove how stable they are. Having now been in business for over a year, we can happily say that the only times we have had downtime is when our servers have had to be physically moved. On both occasions, there was ample notice and the entire process only took a few hours in the middle of the night. Hopefully that is proof that reliability need not come with a high price!

There may be a very short amount of website outage within the next day or two while the main GigaTux website is moved to a different server. This outage does not affect any of our customers.
