VPS Hosting

GigaTux provides Linux virtual servers running on Intel Xeon Nehalm (similar to Core i7) or Intel Core 2 Quad hardware from £7.99 per month. More importantly than the underlying architecture, we proactively ensure that VPS system resources are allocated fairly and each user has access to a very responsive system.

Our most basic Xen VPS hosting solution gives you full root access on a Linux system 5GB hard drive space and 50GB data transfer per month, with 128MB RAM dedicated to you. We also offer more powerful Linux VPS hosting accounts with more space, RAM and data transfer for a higher, but still competitive price. Should you find the data transfer limits for your VPS insufficient, overuse is only 4p/GB. The virtualisation is performed using Xen, a well proven solution for efficiently partitioning servers.

With GigaTux Linux VPS hosting, you can perform any tasks you would be able to do with a standard Linux system, including, but not limited to:

• Performing web hosting, mail server, DNS hosting etc.
• Providing a VPN or proxy service¹
• Cheap online storage facility
• Experimenting with a variety of Linux installations, including Debian, Centos, Turnkey Linux and Gentoo.

We are Linux specialists, having used a variety of distributions day in, day out for many years. We are able to provide your virtual server account set up with the distribution of your choice. We are presently able to cover most popular distributions for our Linux hosting solutions, including Debian (our recommended server distribution), CentOS, Ubuntu, Fedora Core and Gentoo. If you prefer to have another Linux distribution installed on your VPS, please let us know as it's more than likely that we'll be able to set up your VPS using the distribution of your choice.

Web Hosting

It almost goes without saying that we provide fantastic web hosting, mail and DNS hosting solutions, allowing use of PHP, MySQL and primary and secondary DNS. FTP access to your web hosting space is provided along with great usage statistics and accounting features. Our web hosting packages include mail access over web, POP3 or IMAP with state of the art, dynamic spam filtering provided by Spam Assassin and other related utilities.
